Firebomb attempt investigated on sheriff car in Montana
Local authorities investigate an attempted arson on the Sweet Grass County sheriff’s vehicle. Sheriff Kenneth Thompson says a substance was placed in the gas line and ignited, burning the tank lid area but causing no major damage after the fire self extinguished. The car was towed for fuel testing and remains driveable with only discoloration near the tank.

New Post Office Head Begins Duties in Bay Timber
New postmaster is Herb Deutsch who started duties Monday in Big Timber area. He fills vacancy from Ray Traver who resigned effective June 12 after 22 years in the Postal Service. Traver plans to stay in Bay Timber. Deutsch comes from Livingston where he supervised postal operations.
