Lutheran Church to Celebrate 40th Anniversary Week
The Big Timber Lutheran church marks its fortieth anniversary with a three day program starting Friday. Rev E S Tollefson will speak on The Church Its Builder. Other former pastors address sessions, with Norwegian services and leaders from North Dakota Wisconsin and Minnesota scheduled to speak. A commemorative brochure includes church histories and early member lists.

Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Overfelt
Mrs. Lydia S. Overfelt 75 of Sweet Grass county died unexpectedly of a heart attack Saturday. Funeral services were at Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev. H. S. Tool officiating. Interment was at Mountain View. Survived by husband Hugh six sons two daughters and numerous grandchildren. Born in Redwood Virginia she moved from Missouri to Montana in 1901 and lived on ranches before moving to town four years ago.

The Royal Neighbors of America District meeting gathered 193 registrants at Laurel high school gym with 18 from Riverview camp 4413 Big Timber. Delegates, officers, nine candidates initiated, and a 36 member Billings group skit accompanied by lectures, beverages, and a banquet at the Masonic hall.

Old Timer Visits Big Timber From Oakland
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Marks of Oakland California visit Big Timber this week recounting moves to Alaska in 1900 and return after 69 years. He recalls bull teams hauling wool to the railroad and notes many changes since the town grew south from the tracks. He once worked at the old Big Timber National Bank 47 years ago and was hosted by Mrs. M. W. Barr and Miss Lottie Stubblefield on Sunday.

Born Hudson Illinois October 21 1866 she married N E Oliver September 26 1906 Lansford ND moved to Inverness 1910 then Big Timber 1916.

Mrs. Alice Harris died Tuesday evening at her daughter’s home in Powell Wyoming after months of illness. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 30 pm at the Congregational church in Big Timber with Rev P N Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the local area.

Lochart Sentenced to 18 Months in Deer Lodge Penitentiary
Anton Thomas Lochart pleaded guilty to second degree assault and was sentenced by Judge B E Berg in district court to 18 months in the state penitentiary in Deer Lodge after threatening two local girls with a knife last week.
