Graduates Receive Diplomas from Class of 09

The Class of 09 comprises two girls and three boys as they receive their diplomas marking the end of their schooling journey.

Busy Week for Pupils Ends High School Year in Big Timber

The week featured the baccalaureate address, the class play Uncle Rube, and five graduates receiving diplomas. Judge E K Cheadle of Lewistown gave the commencement address, with Principal W C Ryan praising faculty efforts and urging community support for higher academic standards.

Alumni Banquet Celebrates High School Alumni

The second annual alumni banquet was held Saturday at the Grand Hotel. Of 31 original members, 13 attended along with 5 new members and 5 guests, totaling 23 at the event. E R Patterson served as toastmaster as witty toasts were offered by Hugh Pound Selmer Solberg Gretchen Everette Lucia Mirrielees and W C Ryan. Wood's orchestra provided music.

Madison River Power Extends Transmission to Big Timber

Madison River Power Co begins extending power lines from Livingston toward Big Timber with linemen reaching Springdale. The project links Billings plant with state plants, taps Hunters Hot Springs for light and power, and plans a modern 20 by 70 foot office building for the city.

No Inspection Fees May Be Charged For Cattle Shipments

Attorney General Galen rules that stock inspectors and sheriffs cannot charge per diem fees for inspecting cattle offered for shipment in Montana. Officials may seek payment only for actual expenses from the stock inspection and indemnity fund, while the state bears inspection duties without extra pay. The opinion, issued at State Veterinarian Knowles's request, cites sections 1804 to 1812 and notes enforcement penalties.

Reed Point locals report Glen Parker visiting from a business trip on Saturday and A S Guthrie staying Monday and Tuesday with Mr and Mrs Guthrie. Shearing pens by Wells and Runner near completion and will start soon. Ladies Aid Society met at Mrs Porter Phipps last Saturday with a pleasant afternoon. They began an autograph quilt to honor donors at ten cents each. finished quilt to be sold to the highest bidder. Mrs Porter Phipps made a flying trip to Columbus Saturday.
