Locals plan barbecue as D Y trail gets backing
J J Lacklen of the Lions club helped persuade the highway commission to urge the Bureau of Public Roads to complete the D Y trail north from Helena to Lewistown about 114 miles long with roughly 80 miles yet to build. Estimated cost eight thousand dollars per mile. Barbecue June 26 fundraiser planned with Daisy Johnson and Leo Cremer donating two beeves and subscriptions covering the balance. Memorial Day events include a city band concert and a parade with veterans, prayers, and a flying squad salute. Residents report visitors from north, and several families are visiting Columbus or preparing for summer in Yellowstone park or Billings.
