Boston May 23 The Boston Traveler reports secret preparations for regular transatlantic air service using giant liners carrying at least 100 passengers. The plan, linked to Boston New York and Dayton, cites MIT tested designs and promises ocean crossing under 48 hours with emphasis on safety.

Port Townsend Washington May 28 A giant octopus battled diver A E Hook for an hour fifty feet under water before releasing the body of I Healey cook on the tug Warren. Four crewmen remain missing as wreckage suggests the tug was rammed and sunk by a larger vessel.

In Delagua Colorado on May 28 a mine explosion in Victor American Fuel Co No 3 killed six workers but Foreman T M Struthers saved 134 miners by ordering workers to stay in the runways. The blast followed a broken coupling on a train of 20 pit cars triggering a coal dust explosion and fire.
