The Ropin' n Ridin' club sponsors a race meet at the Big Timber fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday July 12 and 13. Featured events include 220 yard 330 yard 440 yard, a half mile and a three eighths mile race with competitions set for the weekend.
A large group of Montana Power officials and employees from Butte Bozeman Livingston Billings Big Timber and other points honored Ross Williams at a farewell dinner at the Legion hall Monday evening. Williams retires after 30 years as Big Timber manager with W. W. McArthur named to succeed him effective July 1.
Miss Irma Lucille Campbell daughter of L R Campbell Ord Nebraska married Gordon J Huyser son of Mr and Mrs John Huyser Big Timber in a candlelight ceremony June 27 at the First Evangelical United Brethren church in Billings with 150 guests. vows were led by Rev R R Strutz. The couple will reside in Big Timber after a short honeymoon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Smith funeral chapel for 14 year old Carl Henry McEvony of 1128 Princeton Avenue who drowned south of Big Timber in the Boulder River. He was a ninth grade student at Billings Junior High and is survived by his parents a sister and a half brother all of Billings. The Rev A C Caton officiated with Mrs Hal Wilks singing. Pallbearers included H J Klindt Dean Derkes Wesley Cross Charles Mitchell Bill Gillen and Leo Fink.
Sgt John A Petersen and Lee Ruth Wilder of Phoenix wed at the groom’s parents home on June 26 at 2 p m in a double ring ceremony officiated by Rev E J Bott before 40 guests. The couple plan a honeymoon in Canada and Glacier National Park. they will reside in Port Townsend Washington where Petersen is stationed.
County PMA lists 1952 crop support per bushel for barley 1.09 oats 0.69 rye 1.28 wheat 1.97. Wheat price may rise after July 1 to reflect parity but not drop below July 15, 1951 parity. Loans and purchase agreements run through January 1963 with on farm and warehouse stored grains.
First Lieutenant Charles R. Deegan is awarded the Fourth Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of an air medal for meritorious service as navigator bombardier on a B 26 during 1 April to 18 May 1952 in Korea. Flights were conducted regardless of time or weather, facing enemy opposition.
The Montana Fish and Game Commission approved 1952 deer and elk seasons at its Helena meeting. Secretary of Agriculture Charles F. Brannan announced there will be no acreage allotments or marketing quotas on the 1953 crop wheat. Production goals for next year will be set in July, likely smaller than 1952's indicated levels but larger than quotas would require. A blowout plus loose steering caused a truck to crash on Highway 10 about six miles east of Big Timber. Driver Reverend Kirk M. Dewey was the sole casualty, with a badly bruised left shoulder. Passengers Ronald Harding and David Kirsch, both Billings residents and high school freshmen, were uninjured. The vehicle carried window sash nails and tools. The trio were en route to Camp Mimmnagish on the Boulder for a holiday crew building cabins. The tire failed on a straight stretch, tipping the truck onto its side. They left for Braaten's garage then returned to Big Timber to spend the night, continuing the next day with another Billings carload.
Ralph L. Johnson a 39 year old Los Angeles man and head butcher at the Mammoth Hotel drowned when an automobile left the road and sank in the Gardiner River between Mammoth and the north west entrance at Gardiner Montana. Johnson had borrowed the car for a trip to Gardiner and the time of the accident is unknown.

Mr and Mrs Leo J Cremer and Mr and Mrs Leo Cremer Jr hosted about 100 friends at the Cremer ranch home Monday evening The guests enjoyed a performance by The Sons of Pioneers said to be outstanding and well known from coast to coast The narrative mentions a short vacation visit in Des Moines and notes the group as a top act in their field.
