Martin J Hutchens 62 former Montana editor and journalist died in a Salt Lake City hospital from an overdose of poison believed accidental as a sedative. He had worked with the New York Herald Tribune Chicago Tribune Chicago Journal New York Examiner and Montana papers and accompanied William Jennings Bryan on a 1896 tour. He is survived by wife Mrs Hutchens a daughter Mrs Eugene Finch and a son John K Hutchens.

Two Dead Of Fumes In Oilmont Gas Tank
In Shelby Montana a gas tank incident at the Toole county refinery north of Oilmont claimed two lives. Marvin Johnson 22 entered the tank to repair a leak and was overcome by fumes. James Fox 54 outside the tank went in to help but also lost consciousness. A lowered insulated wire failed and both men died.
