Herders Edge Absarokee Then Rally Past Columbus in Tight Wins
Big Timber high school basketball won two close Midland Empire Conference games last weekend. Absarokee game 66 60 featured a late free throw edge with Kelly Goosey scoring 27 points and Craig Bonnarens adding 17 points 14 rebounds. Against Columbus the Herders erased an 18 point halftime deficit to win 49 48 as Goosey sealed it with a late free throw after stealing the ball with two seconds left. Bonnarens added 18 points and 13 rebounds while Goosey finished with 21 points and pivotal defense in the fourth quarter.

Big Timber Building and Loan elects officers for year
At the 64th annual stockholders meeting of the Big Timber Building and Loan Association Monday night officers were elected to serve the coming year. C. E. Smart remains president and Dean Lowry as vice president while Harold Roe continues as secretary treasurer. Selmer Solberg is assistant secretary. Ralph Prather was elected a director for two years and A O Johnson and Dean Lowry were re elected for three year terms. The association paid dividends totaling $41,142.89 to stockholders, mostly in Sweet Grass county.

Icy Flood Kills 210 Sheep at Myrstol Ranch
An ice jam on the Yellowstone River flooded the Myrstol ranch yard near Voges bridge Saturday afternoon. The flood killed 210 sheep valued at about $6000 while the operator Dave Myrstol and family saved several, including bum lambs, as water receded.
