Japan Accepts $2 Million Compensation Over Bikini H-Bomb Tests
Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu announced the United States will pay Japan $2,000,000 for damages from U S hydrogen bomb tests at Bikini. The cabinet approved the offer at the first meeting of the new year. Radioactive ash from the Bikini test on March 1 sickened 21 crew aboard the tuna boat Fortunate Dragon, with one death.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 pm at Lowry Funeral Home for Oscar Hauge who died Tuesday night after a cerebral hemorrhage. Rev. Wm. A. Sivert O. Mydland a Sweet Grass county resident died Monday at Community Hospital after four and a half years as a patient He was 84 Burial followed at Mountain View with Rev Wm Hood officiating He was born June 4 1870 in Sognadal i Dalrene Norway and came to Montana in 1887 He owned the Mudland ranch Sweet Grass and later the Miller ranch near Twodot He moved to town about eight years ago He leaves a Montana nephew Leif Krone Ingomar two nieces in New York and relatives in Norway The Montana nephew plans to attend the funeral.
