About 30 seniors attended a Christmas party Wednesday at the Congregational church recreation rooms. Mr and Mrs Henry Sandsnesses celebrated their silver wedding anniversary with a Monday afternoon reception at the EUB church parlor. About 100 friends called between 2 and 4:30 pm as flowers and a decorated cake marked the occasion.
Randall John Jacobs died suddenly at age one after a brief illness. He was born December 27, 1959, and survived by his parents three sisters and grandparents. Funeral services were held at St Josephs Catholic Church with interment at Mountain View.
Mrs Paul Fischer 56 died Christmas Eve at Big Timber Rest Home where she had lived since December 9 in poor health from heart condition diabetes and leukemia Funeral services were held at Lowry Chapel with Rev Ocee Johnston officiating Interment was in Mountain View Survivors include husband son William Benson three brothers three sisters four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews She was born November 20 1904 in Lansing Iowa and moved to Montana in 1911 moving to Big Timber in 1920
Frank Williams returns to Tacoma Washington Monday after spending the Christmas holidays with his parents Mr and Mrs Ross Williams and his sister Lois.
Linda Karen Olness daughter of Dr and Mrs Bernhard Olness married Lieutenant John Wesley Rider son of Chief Warrant Officer and Mrs Lester Rider at the Big Timber Lutheran church on December 27. The ceremony was officiated by Rev Ocee Johnson with Marilyn Johnson as organist. The couple will travel to New Jersey and then Korea where the groom will serve eighteen months, with the bride teaching music in Hardin and both university graduates of Montana State.
Archie Lake has been named Sweet Grass county advisor for the Montana Chamber of Commerce. O. E. Markle, president, announced the appointment, citing the advisor’s role in guiding policies and serving as a contact for officers, directors and staff.
Mrs Rose Bray hosted her son Donald Bray daughter in law and grandson Don of Butte over the holidays. They are leaving today for home.
Mrs. Mattie Shaw 82 longtime Lower Sweet Grass resident died Friday after a stroke at the community hospital. Services were held Tuesday at the Lowry Chapel with Rev. Ben Knopp officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View. Survivors include daughter Mrs. R. Earl Dawes of Bozeman and a grandson and granddaughter among three great grandchildren.
Iver S. Hoglund 57, former Big Timber hatchery foreman, died suddenly Monday at Deaconess hospital in Great Falls from a heart attack. Funeral at Lowry Chapel today at 2 pm with Rev. Ben Knopp officiating. burial in Mountain View. Survivors include widow Maude Campbell, sister Amelia Hoglund of Los Angeles, and brothers Emil and Melvin Hoglund, also of Los Angeles. Born April 4, 1903 in Galesburg North Dakota, he moved to Hedgesville as a child and began fishery work at 18 in Emigrant. He spent 14 years as Lewistown foreman, 14 years as Great Falls hatchery foreman, and longest-serving Montana fish and game employee.
Vic Braaten will head the clerk of court office with Beulah Patterson as deputy. Wright Ewan starts as county commissioner while continuing the Webber term. Gene Spilte heads Sweet Grass delegation to Helena as a new legislator. Ronald McDonnell becomes state senator and George J. Allen begins another judicial term. Lyman Moulden and C A Bishop win reelection as justices of the peace. Hubert Becken names Francis Biglen deputy while Scott Hoskinson fills in during her arm recovery.
