Agencies Seek Eight Million More in State General Fund
The Montana Taxpayer says state departments and boards request 50.7 million dollars for the 1953-55 biennium, up from 43 million for 1951-52, with education health welfare and custodial institutions driving the totals. Custodial institutions seek 12.33 million, surpassing the 1951 figure, while welfare requests drop slightly for the first time in 15 years. The health board seeks 1.045 million, far above the 1951-53 allowance, and severe cuts loom as 1951-53 levels exceed current and projected revenues. The report notes last year’s appropriations topped revenues by over 31 percent.

No Cause Found For C 124 Crash At Moses Lake
The death toll from the Moses Lake C 124 disaster rose to 87 as the air force said a preliminary inquiry found no cause. Among the 116 aboard were 104 servicemen returning for holiday leaves. Master Sgt. Wendell L Burton of Temple Oklahoma, the aircraft engineer, died in a San Antonio hospital after surviving the crash. He had reported instrument trouble before losing consciousness.

Escapes Injury In Auto Accident On Columbus Hill

A fast overtaking vehicle cut in on a curve, causing Wheeler to brake and lock a front wheel, sending his car off the road into loose gravel and rolling over.
