Lars Fotland states Sweet Grass County soil conservation district worked with the soil conservation service on range stocking seeding stock water developments contour strip cropping field ditches water spreading systems and land leveling totaling 1952 activity. New cooperators rose to 38 as plans cover 22 farms and surveys complete on 26 farms across 48 640 acres. Technicians aided PMA cooperators and district cooperators with permanent practices, and assisted county agents veteran and school teachers in conservation education.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Gates pioneer Boulder settler were conducted Monday afternoon at the Big Timber Lutheran church with Rev. Gilbert Oppen officiating. She died Friday at Community hospital after months of ill health. Burial was in Mountain View. Survivors include daughter Almeda Pierce, sister Mary Legue, two granddaughters, two grandsons, and five great grandchildren.
