Montana highway commission will let contracts totaling 1 815 000 under an emergency financing plan probably January 24. The program includes at least one project in each of 12 districts with a major bridge over the Yellowstone river near Sidney valued at 425 000 and other road works across the state. A conference with W H Lynch of Portland is set for January 5 to discuss program details and regulations.

Auto Owner Found Dead in Back Seat Near El Paso
Marion Burk 45 of Mesa Arizona was found dead in the rear of his auto driven by a young hitchhiker Jack Elvington 20. Elvington said Burk asked him to take the wheel near Lordsburg New Mexico and later the sleeping man died from unknown causes as a filling station at La Tuna Texas was reached. Rancher Sentenced For Shooting Neighboring Horses
Lewistown December 18 L W Scarborough a 70 year old rancher was sentenced to three years in state prison after a district court jury convicted him of shooting horses belonging to a neighboring farmer in the Gilt Edge country. Scarborough formerly lived near Malta said the horses were trespassing on his ranch. Judge Edgar Baker imposed the sentence.

Glacier Park Plans Tourist Camps and Highway Work
Glacier National Park will add tourist camps at Many Glaciers using park appropriations. A full unit of cabins cafeteria store and other buildings will be built with further units planned in spring 1982. The budget also includes 2810,000 to complete the transmountain highway across the park, a major attraction, with contracts due for completion within two years and continued road oiling and trail work.

Magnus Olsen a former Livingston plasterer was shot and killed Sunday morning in Seattle by neighbor Tom Howland who mistook him for a rabbit killer. Olsen died hours later in hospital.
