A Daily Mail dispatch from the western front reports captured German soldiers claim Adolf Hitler visited troops in the Roer river area ten days earlier and urged them to hold on until December promising a surprise for the Americans.
Lewis Penwell, collector of internal revenue, said Congress moved the final date for filing estimated income tax declarations and paying installments for 1944 from December 15, 1944 to January 15, 1945. Farmers may defer filing, others can file amended declarations, and some may use form 1040 to cover both return and declaration if paid by January 15.
