Des Moines reports the death of Frank A. Gotch a retired world heavyweight wrestling champion at his Humboldt Iowa home from uremic poisoning. He had been ill for two years and died with wife Gladys and son at his bedside. Gotch declined a world title match with Joe Stecher two years earlier fearing a loss to fans would ruin many.

Mrs. O'Hare Sentenced to Five Years for Speech

Mrs. Kate Richards O'Hare is sentenced to five years in the Jefferson City Missouri penitentiary for utterances in a Bowman North Dakota speech that allegedly discouraged military registration. The trial heard she denounced war and challenged Judge Wade while calling mothers who raise soldiers cannon fodder.

Livingston Enterprise reports Judge James F. O Connor of Park County Montana has been appointed special counsel for the Federal Trade Commission. Butte Murderers to Hang for Higgins Crime

The Montana Supreme Court denied a rehearing in State vs Fisher and O Neil. Fisher and O Neil were convicted in Silver Bow county for the murder of Thomas Higgins and sentenced to death. Higgins identified the men as his attackers before dying after a street holdup in Butte. Governor Stewart’s potential intervention could stay the penalty.

Policeman Killed by Mexican Section Hand

Patrolman Enos Nelson was shot in an alley around 10:30 last night and died at St. Vincent's hospital. The suspected assailant, named Juan Quarro, died at the hospital after a buckshot and bullet wound. Patrolman Pat Bakke was wounded in the ankle during the chase on Montana avenue but is not seriously hurt.

Senator Myers Returns From Honolulu Trip

Senator H. L. Myers spoke for the foreign trade bill after his return from Hawaii. He has not outlined his planned work yet but expects to confer with the president on water power and land legislation. He says wartime needs raise demand for a water power bill to foster development, pending a full discussion with the president.

Judge Stark Names Loasby to Fill County Vacancy

County Clerk Cameron received notice from Livingston Tuesday of Judge Stark appointing George A. Loasby to fill the vacancy on the board of county commissioners caused by A. M. Clark's resignation. The appointment lasts until a successor is qualified at the November 1918 general election or the first Monday of January 1919. The action followed broad support from prominent men of both parties and a widely signed petition.
