Miss Doris Thomas directs the annual Roquet Christmas party at the Legion hall next Thursday evening with a musical program. Mrs Esp Honored on 90th Birthday in Open House

Friends of Jennie Esp gathered at her Melville home to mark her 90th birthday. Born 1865 in Norway, she immigrated in 1883 and spent years pioneering Sweet Grass county’s early settlements with family devotion and community service.

Postmaster Harold McLauchlan announced a surge in holiday mail with about 30,000 Christmas cards letters and packages sent and similar received as the peak season approaches Christmas. He warned the period from now to Christmas will be the heaviest for postal workers.

Sheepherders Win Two More Over Worden and Forsyth

The Sheepherders stretched their winning streak to five with a 73 54 victory over Worden on Friday and a 70 47 win against Forsyth on Saturday. Berg opened the Worden game with a hook shot and layup, Reidelbach fueled the offense with free throws and field goals, while Lomeland and Esp helped build the large first half lead. Big Timber led 44 23 at halftime and continued the strong scoring run into the third quarter.

Tour of Area Soil Conservation Districts by Congressman

Congressman Orvin B. Filare led a party of soil conservation supervisors from Yellowstone Sweet Grass Musselshell and Wheatland counties on a week long tour. They started in Billings visited Yellowstone county, then Roundup to review Musselshell district work, met Sweet Grass supervisors at Harlowton and continued through Wheatland. They assessed problems and accomplishments in irrigation and dry land practices.

B T Fire Dept Asks Public Cooperation

The Big Timber Fire Department appeals for public cooperation during alarms after a Sundby home fire. Crowding around the scene hampered firefighters and volunteers interfered, said Chief Ross Snyder. He noted 40 department members are insured, unlike volunteers outside. The request is to stay clear of the building and avoid obstructing hoses.
