Members of the Sweet Grass Wool Marketing Association and the Sweet Grass Woolgrowers Association merged at their December meeting held in the American Legion hall. New officers include Ted Thompson president Ras mus Roe vice president Olaf Brekke secretary and Dallas Roots treasurer. Five directors form the marketing committee with Bud Clayton chair and Clark Engle vice chair.

J Varns Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias Montana will visit Pythian Lodge in Livingston. The event includes a 6:30 membership dinner at Frye's Cafe and an 8 p.m. meeting at Fraternity Hall with Lloyd Griffith speaking on Pythianism. Knights are urged to attend and bring a guest.

Peterson Receives Wool Blanket at Woolgrowers Meeting
Fritz Peterson was honored with a wool blanket for six years as treasurer of the Sweet Grass Woolgrowers Association. With the merger of the Woolgrowers and Marketing associations he retired and Dallas Roots replaced him. Bud Clayton presented the blanket at the annual meeting last Saturday. Peterson served 16 years as county agent and six years as treasurer.

Plaggemeyer Assigned to Fort Knox Training Unit
Private John B Plaggemeyer son of Mr and Mrs John Plaggemeyer of Melville route is assigned to Company A 12th Battalion 5th Brigade at the Army Training Center Fort Knox Kentucky for two months of basic training. Afterward he will receive at least eight weeks of advanced instruction or on the job training to qualify in a specialized military skill.

A Stillwater county rancher reported a pickup with spot light near the Sweet Grass county line. A dog found near Natural Bridge by Boulder. A Reed Point call warned of an out-of-state car veering toward Big Timber. Night shooting blamed on a porcupine. Multiple vandalism and disturbance reports followed including vehicle gas cap thefts and a vehicle left on by a construction firm. Accidents included damage at Two Mile Bridge and curb collisions in Big Timber.

Senior Citizens Christmas Party at Dugout
The Senior Citizens held a Christmas party during their regular meeting at the Dugout with hosts Mr and Mrs Cecil Valgamore and Mrs Emily Duncan. Girl Scouts decorated the hall and tree. Rev James Applebach led carols with Mrs Henry Walton at piano. Yvonne Applebach sang and recited. Rev Applebach and Oscar Vik sang solos. He spoke on Christmas meaning and gifts were exchanged. Barbara Sell filmed the event. Next meeting January 12 hosted by Madge Tronrud Kristine Haugstad and Etta Farthing.

Montana Power Corp. paid 23136 for the first half of 1969 taxes to Sweet Grass County. The second half will be paid in May. The total 1969 property tax for the firm statewide is 6967291, making it the state’s largest taxpayer. Sweet Grass County High will host a two day Holiday tournament in Big Timber featuring Bozeman Rosary Belgrade and Red Lodge joining the Sheepherders.
