At the 1938 International Livestock Exposition in Chicago the Aberdeen Angus steer Mercer sold for 3.35 a pound, total 3785 dollars, the highest price since 1929 and fourth in expo history. Owner Irene Brown, 14, from Aledo Illinois, had previously bought him for 60 dollars and spent about 80 on provender. Mercer sold to Firestone Tire and Rubber Co of Akron Ohio. reserve champion Master of Oklahoma sold for 0.75 a pound to a Chicago nightclub.

American Wheat Exports to British Millers Under Subsidy

Fog Shrouds Bus Crash Injuring Twenty Two
A New York to Miami bus skidded in dense pre dawn fog near Philadelphia, overturning and injuring 21 passengers and the driver. Anna Marie Hahn Dies in Ohio Electric Chair for Poison Murder
In Columbus Ohio on December 7 1937 Anna Marie Hahn 32 was executed in the electric chair for the murder by poison of Jacob Wagner a Cincinnati gardener aged 78. The court denied habeas corpus and stay requests while prosecutors tied Hahn to other deaths. A toxicologist testified poison crystals were found in a purse and a chemist noted poison in the attic remnants.
