Grass fire at Halverson Ranch burns haystacks and pasture
A grass fire at Halverson Ranch in Dead Man's Basin north of Grey Cliff on Tuesday November 23, started from burning trash in windy conditions. The 11:30 a.m. blaze lasted about eight hours, destroyed several haystacks and pasture fence posts, and consumed lumber. Firefighters, aided by volunteers, contained it with heavy winds limiting containment. Weamer said total losses affected all touched property and insurance will cover part of the damages. Chief Beer cautioned that even with moisture up, windy days keep burning risky.

Fall Concert Showcases Combined High School Bands
A capacity crowd attended the Fall Concert by Sweet Grass County High School Bue Timber Grade School and the Combined Bands on Tuesday night November 23. The Beginning Band opened with Merrily We Roll Along Recess and Smooth n Easy under director John Novotny. The Stave Band performed Hey Jude Another Lazy Day followed by the Grade School Band selections Prairie Song Celebrity March A Simple Serenade Russin Fete Beho Song Theme from Mahogany Autumn and Chicago Medley. The High School Band closed with Brandywine Creek celebrating the Breentennial. Members of the Beginning Band and High School Band are listed with instruments and names. The Grade School Band lineup is also included. The show ends with reminder of a Christmas concert on December 16.

Herders Capture Southwest Invitational Title In Tight Win
SGHS Herders won the Billings Central Invitational by beating Billings Central 67 61 after a 73 72 Friday victory over Roundup. Coach John Alex praised youth and noted offensive and defensive rebounding as focus areas. McCauley led with 22 points and 13 rebounds, Graham added 18, Argenbright 16, Luttschwager 10. Roundup's Turley top-scored with 22.

Park County Fire Crews Augment Each Other Under New Pact
