Reports say a forest fire four miles above McKinsey ranch spread three miles since Saturday. Ten rangers led by Forest Supervisor W G. Lantry fought the blaze amid dead timber. rain aided efforts but new outbreaks were reported. Cause believed careless campers. much timber valued remains at risk.

Van Cleve plans interexchange line from Big Timber to Harlowton

Mr. Van Cleve owns a section of telephone line running from Big Timber to Melville connecting with the Bell exchange at Big Timber. He intends to extend this line to Harlowton to provide better communication between the Yellowstone valley and the large region northward.

Expanded Homestead Act Sets 320 Acres for Montana

Washington reports Acting Interior Secretary Price designated 542,480 more acres in Montana under the enlarged homestead act, increasing total designated acreage in the state to 26,030,080. The expansion allows settlers to claim 320 acres instead of 160.

A 1909 state agricultural college reply advises using Paris green at 1 lb per 100 150 gallons of water to spray cabbage plants. It notes spray methods with knapsack or auto sprayers, extending hoses to reach undersides leaves, and says there is no danger to eaters since arsenic is inside leaves and outer leaves are discarded.
