Gary Murphy earned All-Around Cowboy honors at the 1977 Big Timber Rodeo with total winnings of 940.80 and top steer wrestling time of 3.9 and calf roping time of 9.5. Del Nose placed third overall with 312.37 and notable scores in steer wrestling and bareback riding. Other winners include Dave Wagner in Bull Riding, Jim Jacobsen in Saddle Bronc, Brent Johnson in Bareback, Lee and Rick Levine in Team Roping, and Lila Mae Stewart winning girls barrel riding. Queen Maudi Atkinson received the crown after the Grand Entry with a crowd in attendance. Trained acts by Reg and Liz Kesler also featured. Open Class entries for the County Fair are accepted Thursday Aug 01 at the Pair grounds with a $1 fee. juniors free.

Fatal accident injures vacationer couple and others
A 50 year old Canadian man, Charles Rush of Cs loops British Columbia, died at the scene of a two car crash east of Timber near the Greyet turnoff. His wife Susan, 38, was critically injured at St Vincent's Hospital Br ings. Also injured were Ronald Berg 19 of Big Timber Rollin Mininick 18 of Livingston both in critical condition at St. Vincents with Berg in ICU. Rush's son John 19 is in fair condition. Teresa 1) and Charlie 14 were treated and released. A second crash west of Reed Point involved Patricia Rose Clark 19 of Billings whose car rolled after overcorrecting. Michael L. Scott 25 also of Billings escaped injury.

Hospital keeps snake anti venom serum on hand
The Sweet Grass Community Hospital has maintained snake anti venoms serum since opening. Administrator Lois Williams says the supply is kept current and replaced when outdated. A rattlesnake bite victim, Mrs. Bob Lindner, was treated in Livingston after Big Timber had no medication available. Dr. Tom Ivey arranged the transfer. she stayed hospitalized three days.
