Shirley Janke twenty four suffered third degree burns over half her body while attempting to rescue a pet monkey. Martell Johnson of Butte received second degree burns over thirty five percent. Fire started from overflowing gasoline during pumping at the Town Pump east end of the highway. An auto nearby was destroyed and town businesses continued operating.

Big Timber Little League runs win streak to six with 12 6 victory
The Big Timber Little League, supported by the City Recreation Program, beat Columbus 12 to 6 in the first of two games. Argenbright and Graham combined on the mound with Argenbright adding two hits including a triple. In the second game, Big Timber fell 22 to 6 to Columbus, despite strong hitting by Esp and Graham.
