A head on collision between a heavy oil truck and a passenger car near Avon left three men and a 19 year old woman dead. Victims identified include Mrs Alice Mills of Hoquiam and her husband George. Truck driver Walter Besaw of Great Falls died later. Sheriff and coroner described extensive flames and the burning roadway oil.

Upland Birds Protected in Montana Closed Season
The Montana state fish and game commission announced a no hunting season this year for native upland birds. Chairman B L Price said the closed season follows a county request from 42 of 56 counties. Covered species include blue grouse sagehens prairie chickens and chukar partridges with open dates for pheasants to be set at Livingston on August 31.

Relief funds near depletion stages in Montana counties
Dr. Peter Potter, chairman of the Montana public welfare board, warned that relief funds would exhaust soon if counties cannot issue warrants against anticipated revenue in poor funds. Attorney General Freebourn ruled such warrants could not be issued. state grants in aid should cover counties when funds run dry. St Paul July 29 The Northern Pacific railway will add 460 shop workers on August 1 as crop movement grows in the northwest. Robert Duggan Funeral Set for Friday
Robert Duggan died Tuesday at Chris tensen hospital after being brought back from Lot hospital Livingston for an operation that revealed bladder cancer. The 70 year old Hubbard Nebraska native lived in Montana many years, homesteading near the Sweet Grass crossing. He is survived by two sisters Mrs Mary Lang Hubbard Neb and Mrs Johanne Tobin Sioux City Iowa. Funeral service will be at St Josephs church at 10 30 a m Friday with burial in Mountain View cemetery.
