At a 4H Council meeting the Sweet Grass County Fair was scheduled for August 27 and 28, marking the 29th annual event two weeks later than last year to allow better market conditions for steers and lambs and extra time for gardeners to prepare exhibits. Guest speaker Mrs William D Snapp, president of the South Central 4H Leaders district, announced the district leaders conference will be October 7 8 in Columbus. Mrs. William Boyd Dies in Bozeman at 71
Mrs. William H. Boyd, 71, died Saturday at Florence Rest Home in Bozeman after an extended illness. Services were held Monday at Lowry Chapel with Rev. Arnold Erickson officiating. Survivors include her husband, two sons Donald and Gordon, two daughters Bernice Porter and Elaine Lane, a brother Wesley Snyder, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Former Reed Point Resident Dies Here
Howard B. Boyles a Reed Point area resident earlier died at Sweet Grass Community hospital after one day as a patient. Born January 23, 1880 in Olivet South Dakota he married Margaret Baxter in Reed Point on January 1 1910. He homesteaded near Reed Point then moved to Laurel in 1923 worked for Northern Pacific railroad until 1945 and served in the Spanish American War. Survivors include his widow foster daughter Candis Plumlee and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Lowry Chapel with John Foote officiating. burial at Mountain View.

The road from Gardiner and Mammoth to West Yellowstone and Old Faithful was opened for travel Monday, per Yellowstone Park official J A Martinek. Heavy snow has slowed clearance but full opening is expected May 1 except Beartooth northeast entrance, targeted for June 1. Major reconstruction includes 6,248 miles of highway work and a $1,004,085 contract award.

University of Washington teacher injured in bicycle collision
David Drivdahl a 30 year old UW instructor was seriously injured when his bicycle was struck by a motorcycle at NE 40th and 15th Ave Seattle. He underwent skull surgery and remained in critical condition at University Hospital. The motorcyclist Jerry McKeller 21 was cited for not yielding the right of way.

Seniors Return From Annual State Trip
A tired and happy group of seniors traveled from Big Timber arriving in Boulder for a two hour tour of the training school. They visited Helena and the capitol, met Governor Tim Babcock, stayed in Deer Lodge, toured the state prison, toured Anaconda plants, enjoyed Gregson Hot Springs, and dined in Butte before returning home. Chaperons included Arthur Schump Jack Meskim en Mrs Tope Strobel and Mrs Forest Keller. Bus drivers were Harold Braley and Kermit Lutschwager.
