County Agent F B Peterson says the bank’s donation assists youth programs and will receive a Service to Youth plaque for its efforts. The foundation funds the National 4 H Center IFYE program and youth leadership initiatives.

Services Held For Mrs. Clare Brown
Mrs. Clare F. Brown longtime Big Timber resident died Friday in a Portland hospital after lengthy rest home care. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Congregational church with Rev. Ben Knopp officiating. Interment was at Mountain View. She was born Clare Francisco Kruger in Madison Wisconsin on September 18 1871 and earlier worked for the Minneapolis Tribune. The Browns moved to Montana in 1911 and settled near Big Timber before relocating to town in 1920. Survivors include son Tom Brown of Portland daughter Jane L. Brown of Kansas City and Norma Freed of Cut Bank, plus six grandchildren.

Women Bowlers Conclude City Tournament at Solberg win
The Big Timber Women's Bowling Association wrapped up its city tournament last weekend. Solberg's captured the team title with 2777, while Big Timber Cleaners posted 2766 and Sweet Grass Dairy 2764. Delbert Sell's led singles with 652, Hauge tops all events with 1883, and the doubles crown went to Wink Johnson and W Hatfield with 1204.

Osogays Hats Birthday Club Meeting at Dallmann Hall

Calves Stolen Near Springdale Area Reported
Two young calves were stolen in the Springdale area, sheriff Kenneth Thompson said. John Phillips, owner of the former Dick Irwin ranch, reported one calf taken from a county road roadside area and another from a pasture. The state brand inspector assisted the investigation Tuesday.

Rostad Earns Shell Merit Scholarship for College

Speech students shine at meet with state hopes

Big Timber Rodeo Plans Advance for June 11 Parade
Plans for the annual Big Timber rodeo move ahead led by Jaycees ad head John Ronneberg. The event on Sunday June 11 starts with a noon parade and features bareback riding saddle bronc bull dogging calf roping and bull riding plus open class girls barrel racing. Oral Zumwalt will produce the RCA approved show drawing top cowboys for a $1000 purse with barbecued beef lunches at the fairgrounds.

The Farmers' Service Association held its annual meeting at the American Legion hall with 164 members attending a roast beef dinner despite winter travel troubles.
