Sweet Grass County residents will hear the Absaroka Beartooth Primitive Area wilderness proposal at an 8 p.m. May 1 session in the American Legion upstairs hall. Speakers include Alan Lamb Fletcher Newby Robert Miller Ken Baldwin and Howard McDowell with community leaders moderating and a Q A session to follow. The meeting aims to inform and gather feedback as a first regional hearing with invited representatives from nearby towns and assorted interests.

Lindeman Pleads Guilty to Big Timber Burglary
Richard Darrell Lindeman of Big Timber enters a guilty plea on April 22 to burglary charged in district court filed April 3. Judge Jack D. Shanstrom delays sentence for three years, places Lindeman on probation with 30 days in Sweet Grass County Jail and employment hours restriction, and requires reimbursement of court costs.

Five SGHS Students Attend Math Meet
Five SGHS students participated in the Tenth Annual Mathematics meet held Saturday in Billings. The event, sponsored by the Billings Regional Mathematics Club, drew teams from Laurel Billings Central Hardin Red Lodge and Big Timber in Class B. Pat Clark earned a superior rating in Geometry Terry Terland and Walt Baylis received honorable mentions in Algebra 2. Our math instructor Ed Holmberg accompanied the participants.

Troop 521 Wins Presidential Award at Absaroka Exposition
Nine Big Timber scouts Allen Petaja James Martinz Mike Henthorn Dan Mc Cauley Jim Graham Steve Smith Wesley Burg Ronnie Rue Tracy Mosness earned the Presidential Award for Best Troop Display with Wildlife 69 at Livingston Civic Center. They also won two first place ribbons in challenge games and a blue participation ribbon. Scoutmaster Floyd Thomas led the unit with help from Russ Smith Jim Graham and Tom Ellis providing support and transportation.
