Rifle Shots End Kinsey Man in A Coroners Inquest
Miles City April 13. Fred Boeckman of Kinsey died from rifle shot wounds inflicted by Clifford Derinberger of Kinsey after a quarrel. Derinberger fired from outside the Milwaukee depot as Boeckman pursued him. Derinberger is jailed and eye witnesses will be examined before formal charges. Both men were prominent Kinsey citizens in Custer county.

Birger Executed After Brief Deliberation
In Benton on April 17 the circuit court jury rejected Charley Birger’s insanity plea and sentenced the convicted coal gang leader to death for murdering Mayor Joe Adams of West City. Defense lawyers announced they would not attempt further delay after the verdict.

John Potter Pioneer of Montana Dies at 84
John Potter 84 pioneer Montanan died in White Sulphur Springs after arriving in Montana in 1800. He lived at Fort Ellis now Bozeman and served with the Seventh U S Cavalry in civilian roles, worked at Fort Baker and Fort Logan, captained company F of the 58th Illinois Infantry and was wounded at Shiloh. He ran Thompson Gulch store with James H. Mee, helped found Bank of Helena now First National, and the Nar rode Sheep Company before retiring in 1908. He is survived by his widow and two children.
