After more than 75 years of service The Pioneer's Cottrell newspaper press is retired but stays in place. A modern Miehle press replaces it, weighing 16 000 pounds, with moving and building changes spanning a windy week. Ed Crossfield recalls the old machine’s journey from Lewistown to Big Timber.

Wool incentive payments totaling 35 542 39 were mailed to 91 Sweet Grass county woolgrowers based on net proceeds from April 1 to December 31 1963. The payments align with the National Wool Act of 1954 to raise the national average price to 62 cents per pound, with 1963 average at 48.5 cents.

Livingston Band Festival Yields Superior Ensemble Ratings
In a Livingston festival Saturday, 38 grade band students participated with 30 chosen for the massed band and evening concert. Morning judging produced numerous superior ratings across trombone duet, cornet solo, clarinet duet, flute and clarinet duet, brass sextet, horn duet, bass clarinet solo, flute solo, alto sax duets, bells, and multiple solos, with several excellent marks. Ribbons only honored the top three in blue red and white.

Bertel Idland 73 a longtime Sweet Grass county resident died at Community Hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted at Big Timber Lutheran church with Rev. Ocee Johnson. Music by Mrs. Busha and Mrs. McDonnell, pallbearers listed, military rites by American Legion post 19, color guard and firing squad noted. Interment Mountain View. Born January 3 1891 in Aalgaard Norway he immigrated to Big Timber in 1907 to work for A M Crosfield.
