Snowpack in Sweet Grass County Falls Short of Average
Snow surveys in April show mountain snowpacks at 66 percent of the seasonal average across three Boulder area courses. Measurements reveal slight depth and water content gains, but remain well below typical levels, with Monument Peak recording the lowest March reading and all sites at half of last year’s figures. Bill Jarrett accompanied SCS official Frank Biglen on the survey noting continued reliance on snow data for irrigation and flood controls.

Residents of Big Timber may join the Ist annual March of Dimes Walkathon on May 7 starting at 8 30 a.m. from the Dugout. Registration forms are at Citizens Bank First State Bank The Pioneer office Cole Drug Klindt s Pharmacy Coast to Coast and Gambles. Volunteers can sponsor a trekker and prizes include a 10 speed bike from Coast to Coast.

Hunter Safety class to start next Tuesday evening
A spring Hunter Safety class begins at 7 00 p m next Tuesday Apr 12 in the SGHS gym basement. Participants must be 12 years old before the 1977 hunting season and ages 12 18 need the course to buy a license. Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt Set for Easter Sunday
The Lions Club sponsors its annual Easter Egg Hunt for children this Sunday Easter Day at three locations. The event begins at 2 00 p m with separate egg hunts for kindergarten through first grade at the east end of Lions Park and second graders at the west end, and third through fifth graders at the athletic field. IRS urges timely calls for 1976 tax help
The Internal Revenue Service asks taxpayers not to wait to contact help lines for 1976 tax returns. Montana Director Frederick C. Nielsen says many will use the toll free number, with best calling times Wednesday to Friday mornings 8 00 to 9 00 and afternoons 3 00 to 4 00.
