Seventy two voters turnout marked the largest ever for the Grey Cliff School District election as a 5 mill levy suffered a severe defeat amid accusations of misleading propaganda and party political maneuvering. At Bozeman Winter Fair the Quarter Horse showcases drew over 70 entries, far exceeding expectations. Al Buchli's mare Good Enough won class, mares championship, and overall horse championship, with Cotton Honey and Joe Star high placements for Madill stock. Very Rev. W. P. O’Rourke announces Easter Sunday services with a 7:00 a.m. Low Mass and 10:30 a.m. High Mass at St Joseph’s Church and a 9:00 a.m. Low Mass at Reed Point.
After worship at 11 o clock Pastor Bennett will deliver the sermon titled Our Living Lord. The congregation is urged to use Easter offering envelopes and attend in large numbers.
Democratic leaders clash over the Brannan farm plan as Rep Cooley of North Carolina denounces it as untried and subsidy based while Secretary Brannan and Sen Humphrey defend the plan. Cooley notes he once fought to test the plan and says Congress should consider keeping the current program for price support rather than junking it for a consumer subsidy approach.

Teo Billings and Miss Ellen Ellison spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Billings for a brief social visit with local friends and acquaintances.
Fern Mack 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Mack, was killed when her car left the road and hit a telephone pole on Boulder road between the city reservoir and the Ellison ranch. Passenger Yvonne Hicks sustained head injuries. both girls had borrowed Cliff Moffett's car to visit Fern's home. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM at Big Timber Lutheran Church.
James Irvin Rash 76 a retired farmer died of a heart attack at his Columbus home on Thursday He was born in Somerset Kentucky on November 2 1873 He married Molly Darrah in Corydon Iowa and lived in Kentucky Derby Iowa before moving to a farm near Reed Point They moved to Columbus four years ago Surviving are his widow six children a brother and four sisters Funeral services will be Monday at 2 pm at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Columbus with burial in Columbus cemetery
Secretary Acheson said the state department is weighing sending surplus wheat and other commodities to famine areas in China. Senator Knowland proposed aid, estimating up to 10,000,000 Chinese could starve. If approved, aid would likely go through private organizations amid strained U S China relations.
James Bourne Sr died today in a Livingston hospital after a brief illness. He had been a patient there for several weeks.
Mrs. Bernard Lien was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower held Tuesday afternoon at the Robert Nunley residence. Hostesses were Mrs. Ruth Nelson of Livingston and Mrs. Robert Nunley.
Mr and Mrs J W Lamach celebrated their golden wedding with a Sunday reception at Moose hall joined by 12 children and extended family including Pravda Drivdahl and Vange. The couple married in 1900 in Grafton North Dakota and moved across North Dakota Minnesota and Montana before settling near Ryegate and later Sweet Grass County. The party featured a 1947 Studebaker gift and the Lambert organ music by John McTigue of Helena.

The February to March farm price index rose driven by higher meat animal and grain prices. Beef cattle sold at 20.40 per hundredweight, veal 23.20, lambs 22, sheep 10, hogs 16.60. Wheat 1.89 per bushel, rye 0.95, corn 1.42, oats 0.64. Dairy and eggs eased. milk wholesale 4.00 per cwt, retail 18.7 cents, butter 0.66. Wool 0.52, flaxseed 3.26, public prices varied little otherwise with alfalfa seed 27 and potatoes 1.60 per bushel.
