The Democratic party gains Amos W Smith after Joseph McFarland failed to qualify. Persuaded by Democratic friends he enters the race, seen as a good man and strong in northern Lincoln county, with broad local support and expected high vote share. The party honors his acceptance.
Last week an advertisement announced Oscar Beck's candidacy for the legislature as a Republican. He was nominated by friends to represent the section in the next legislature, a man known and respected in the community despite differing political views from the Examiner.
The next big dance of the season will be held on Friday night October 26 at Budd's Hall. A good time is promised to all who attend.
Serif Matt McCourt and Deputy Sheriff Dankowski chased Bascom Skaggs the horse thief to the Kinney ranch south of Bitter Creek. Skaggs escaped through a back door as officers closed in. A cabin trapper saw Skaggs leave about eight hundred to a thousand yards away and the pursuit ended with Skaggs riding off on a fast horse.
John Henry acting for sheriff Johnson seized seven Rocking Chair horses from Wages ranch near South Pass, tied to Bascom Skaggs theft case. Also recovered three Heart branded horses from Route County, Colorado. Skaggs to stand trial in Kemmerer. restlers use Red Desert as hideout. Rev Mythan preached in Rock Springs on way to Big Piney.

Cottonwood settlement news covers social visits and small trips. Mrs Dunham and Mrs Carlin conduct business to Kemmerer. W H Spencer hosts visits. threshing assistance at A C Dunham's. cattle movements and land proof activity noted. Visitors include Frank Ball family, Doyle Ehman, J Angus, Kenneth Lyman, and W FE Carlin.
Kenneth J. Luman won Marbleton's mayoral race while P. H. Healey Cleve Bell A. H. Beecher and J. W. Woods were elected as aldermen. J. O. Angus Martin Brennan and Vigo Miller visited Big Piney Sunday with cattle bound for the Chicago Meat Market at Rock Springs and had in the neighbor Mandel 100 Loom.
At a Kemmerer gathering editor guests included Watt Brandon and two Democrats, Tom O'Neil and John Erwin. A directed conversation with John N. Bunting yielded a surprising shift as he declared loyalty to Wilson and the Democratic ticket, praising the current president over Lincoln era Republicans. The remark left Brandon aghast and remarks about hitting some people on the head were made.
Mr and Mrs MeKay John Abramson and Clare Stacy attended a gathering in Corn. Gust Larson repaired a telephone wire. Jum Fleming is building a new barn on North Cottonwood. Pie Lindback aided by Cames week helping with winter chores. Mrs McKay visited the Stu Nome last Sunday. Charles Stacy Clark Sy visited Charles Lindbock. There is talk of a big event at Wenkelman on Friday night. Laurson planned a trip to Fair Niven Basin Sunday amid recent storms that hindered county road work. Leonard and Walter Lindback visited the Haley home Sunday. Mr and Mrs Charles Lindbow called on Ludwig Lindback Sunday.
The Muleshoe cattle shipment to Omaha market began Tuesday this week while Murdock returns from Omaha Sunday. The Examiner notes an attempt to resume regular publication on Wednesday night and promotes weekly timing and a Big Piney Mercantile Co offer. Sunday school meets at 10, D. D.
