The Town Council of Big Piney will meet on July 1, 1916 at 8 p.m. in the Town Hall to levy a special assessment for sidewalk improvements on the north side of Budd Avenue, touching properties along that side. L. D. Tanner, Mayor. Attest Grover Trittipo, Town Clerk.
The Congregational church announces Sunday School at 10, worship at 11 on July 2 with a sermon on Completeness and an 8 pm service on The Last Christ. Choir rehearsal Tuesday evenings and a planned chorus choir. Marbleton holds Sunday school 2 pm and service 3 pm. Ladies Circle meets with Mrs Budd to organize. Rev. Geo F Wenrich, pastor.
Bids due July 1 1916 at 7 pm to the town clerk for sidewalk work on Budd Avenue from Front Street to Dodge including cement or plank options. Bids must include a $25 bond or certified check. Council may reject all bids. Grover Trittipo Town Clerk.
Middle Piney lake is praised as one of the state’s prettiest spots. Boosters labored to clear access, allowing wagons to drive within three quarters of a mile. The lake’s fishing is described as unexcelled and a future improvement promises top sport lakes after driftwood is removed. The photo was taken at The Falls.
A small subscription funds a local Independence Day celebration for children in the afternoon starting at 1 p.m. with music, prayers, and the Declaration of Independence. Events include multiple age based races, egg and sack races, a fat man race, a ball game between married and single men, candy for children, free lemonade, and evening fireworks.
A small Fourth of July celebration will feature a dance that evening led by L E Bennett. The band will perform several selections before supper is served at midnight.
The W O W band announces its first public concert for Sunday evening on the streets of Piney. The event promises fresh music enjoyed by residents and visitors. A band dance follows at 9 p m with music until 3 a m, featuring serenades to Big Piney Marbleton and a large turnout hoped for.
Last fall a case involves 14 two year old colts missing or stolen. All animals are branded or marked on the left thigh. A liberal reward is offered for their recovery.
Miss Alice Ball hosted a Friday night dancing party at her Cottonwood home with guests including Marion Snyder Lyla Spencer Jane Palmer Lydia Tanner Josephine Osterhout Gladys Angus Marie Atwood Cornelia O Neil and Walter Ball J C Angus Donnie Angus Gunter Williams Major Fear Spencer Trittipo Sage and Frank Ball Miss Ball and Miss Palmer played piano tunes on a Victrola and a midnight luncheon followed after dancing into the early hours the guests praised the best time they ever had.
Mrs. Sarah Spotts and Alfred McNeil tied the knot on Saturday July 24 in Kemmerer. Both are noted Piney residents with Spotts directing the culinary department and McNeil working at the Piney. They plan a brief honeymoon at Pinedale before Al returns to duties at the Tom O’Neil ranch on Cottonwood. Friends extend warm congratulations.
