Meat trade shifts with weather at Los Angeles markets
At the Los Angeles Union Stock Yards and across the West, meat dealers adjust to weather driven demand. Hot weather boosts cold cuts and ground meats while cold spells lift roasts and stew cuts. Cattle prices hold and demand remains active for good fed steers, with ranges from 5.50 to 10.25 per cwt and veal modest. Hogs remain plentiful and lambs fetch 9.00 to 9.75 per cwt.
