Norman W. Barlow of Cora was elected president of the Green River Basin Development company at a June 28 meeting in Green River. Other officers include Joseph Micheli of Fl. Bridger as first vice president Levand A. Grieve of Rawlins as second vice president and David P. Miller of Rock Springs as secretary engineer. A new board covers Carbon Uinta Sublette Sweetwater counties with Barlow also on the slate. The gathering included reps from Union Pacific Salt Lake City US Engineers Palm Security admin and water users. The group formed to conserve water rights and file a unit plan for reservoir sites to support irrigation and land development in the basin. A publicity and legislative committee was authorized and a postwar project program outlined.

Three Counties Exceed War Loan Quotas
Three Wyoming counties surpassed their fifth war loan quotas over the weekend as Governor L. G. Hunt reported on radio. Johnson led individual purchases at 122 percent, Yellowstone 106, and East Fremont, Weston, Albany, and North Lincoln above 80 percent. Total state bond sales reached $11,778,300 with a figure of $69 per person and $2,208,000 in Natrona County.

The Wyoming school system will receive four hundred thirty four thousand dollars plus about two hundred eighty two thousand five hundred two dollars in oil bonus distributions from the oil industry. Half of the bonuses go to public schools and are apportioned to counties like regular royalties. Congressman Barrett cites General Land Office notes on Elk Basin leases and bonuses totaling about seven hundred sixty nine thousand five hundred with three seventh of that sum to the state this year. A new fund was recently created in East Lance Creek as well.

Big Piney Hemmerer Highway to Receive Chip Seal Coating
Hopkins and McPherson road contractors arrived in Big Piney with a gravel crushing outfit and trucks for chip seal coating of Highway 189 between here and Kemmi er. Repairs will address holes from heavy truck loads and spring wear, and work will restore the highway to a high standard. The project employs several men and reflects wartime labor and funding constraints in Wyoming road maintenance.
