Fort Gaspar ferry site and Mormon migration history
The North Platte crossing at Fort Gaspar hosted Mormon ferries from 1847 to 1858 with Brigham Young assigning workers and occasional blacksmithing. A bridge at Platte Bridge Station finally replaced the ferry. brief military use followed, then postwar notes cite historical articles by Dale L. Morgan. Boulder Maverick 4 H Club Dives Into Movie Fundraiser
The Boulder Maverick 4 H Club held its third meeting on January 13 to discuss renting a movie for a fundraising project. A committee was formed to pursue this plan and Dave Calvert gave an engaging demo titled Dippin for DeWars to be aired on KID television in February. The Leathercraft club met January 20 at Gene Fenske's to work on leather projects and plan supplies. The Livestock Club met January 4 at Calvert's to review club calf costs and inspect calves owned by Dave, Duane, Kathy, and the club calf.

Oldest Tagged Elk Reaches Remarkable 20 Year Span
A real old timer cow elk, tagged as a calf in 1947 at Grey's River north of Afton, was found shot near Allen Junction after a 17 year journey. The elk bore ear tags 025 and 2635 from Wyoming Game and Fish records, with the cow aging toward two decades.
