The Leap Year dance last Friday kept the crowd entertained from nine to three a.m. Ladies led the evening, denying a late change to gentlemen’s choice and serving supper to all. Net proceeds about $120 will fund local school music, books, and other needs. An upcoming dance at Budd Hall on December 25 promises a good time with familiar partners.
Edgar F. Herschler of Fontenelle and Charlotte Jenkins of Big Piney were married by Rev. C. Reader at the Chapel residence. A quiet ceremony featured ring service and a wedding breakfast before the couple left for a three week honeymoon. They will reside at Canyon Ranch Fontenelle after January 15 1917.
Loyd Smith an 18 year old was jailed in Kemmerer on a disputed debt after returning a horse on installment. Justice Durnford sentenced him to pay 50 and 10 but County Attorney Reynolds ordered release. Smith spent 24 hours in jail. The case, costing Lincoln County taxpayers over 30 dollars, was dismissed.
A mysterious brain illness caused the death of Frank Travis in Elko Nevada as doctors investigate. Mrs. Travis reports four days of intense suffering and a brain sample was sent to Reno for examination with results due in six weeks. Funeral services were held under Masonic auspices in Elko. Paul Travis and Mrs. Travis' mother traveled from Parsons Kansas for burial.
The Marbleton State Bank invites stockholders to its annual meeting on January 9 1917 at 7 30 p m in the banking rooms to elect officers and directors for the year ahead Attest W W Luce President J Chas Rumach Cashier 12 21 1 17. Also a community Dance hosted by the National Order of Cowboy Rangery at Budd Hall Big Piney on December 29 with prizes for best costume and old rag attire.
Stockholders of the State Bank of Big Piney will meet Monday January 8 1917 at 10:00 a m in banking rooms Big Piney Wyoming to elect officers and a board of directors for the year ahead. A large crowd celebrated Dan Budd's 33rd birthday at his Big Piney home last Monday night. Guests staged surprise pranks, hid in a bedroom, Burr called him, and around 10:30 a lunch was served with birthday cake to conclude the festivities.
A. J. Bentley of Merna returned last Thursday from Quinter Kansas after a three week family reunion over Thanksgiving. He stayed with sister Mrs. I W Miller of Quinter and with Mrs D McCall of Yale Michigan as well as brother Dr W E Bentley of Manhattan Kansas and their father from Ontario Canada. He said they enjoyed every moment of the time.
