The Congregational Church announces for the week of September 3 Sunday School at 10 and preaching service at 11 Morning. Evening service at 6. Mirakie at the Wedding at Cana. Marbleton services Sunday school at 2 and preaching at 4 Rev. Geo F Wenrich Pastor.
The Church of St. John the Baptist lists Sunday services at 11 a m and 2 15 p m with Sunday school at 10 a m and a Friday litany on August 31 at 7 45 p m.
Financial assistance for business owners and partners is offered with assurance that the Markleton State Bard bank will aid account holders in all possible ways, demonstrating active concern for patron interests.
Marbleton State Bank announces its corporate officers with Chas. P. Budd as president Jas. W. Chrisman as vice president and J. Chas. Ruimseh serving as cashier in the leadership lineup.
The Big Piney and Marbleton schools will begin the term on September 11. Principal H. H. Moyer leads the staff with Miss Sylvia Nordstrom, Miss Helen Stanley, and Miss Cordice Hallett. Miss Nordstrom assists in higher grades, Miss Stanley oversees the intermediate grades, and Miss Hallett handles primary classes.
Posters announce the Green River Valley Roundup two weeks away as grounds and grand stand prep proceeds. The weekend schedule lists cow pony races, steer riding, chariot and relay races, bucking contests, and a better babies contest with Rev. Reader as judge. Concessions line up includes ice cream and lunch stands. prize money tops at 150 dollars for the chariot race.
Felix Alston state penitentiary warden visited Big Piney Star Valley to inspect roads for convict labor on good roads projects. He noted a six mile shared road rebuilt on a hillside costing 2200 dollars and six bridges removed, and suggested permanent, moderate cost road work can be done with his crews. He plans a fall visit. F D Chapel James Black and Chas Lancaster traveled to Fall River Basin for a week’s outing.
The marriage of Miss Martha B Goodwin to James P Jensen was announced for Wednesday August 28 1916 in Waterloo Indiana with the couple to reside at Big Piney Wyoming after September 1 They plan to live in the A W Smith dwelling and Mrs Jensen will resume teaching duties in Big Piney schools as prior two years vows shared by families and community friends.
An event features a wild horse race and activities including tug of war between upper and lower valley teams. A prize keg of beer, handsome awards, and a better baby contest for infants under 14 months are announced for Saturday September 16 at 10 AM.
