W R Beh ymer writes from Fort Laramie on October 17 1865 detailing cold with frequent snowstorms and unpredictable weather delays. He notes many desertions possible as pay nears and describes a local wedding at the Indian Village and a dog meat feast. Sickness, especially scurvy, rises with scant vegetables and fruit, while he endures the lack of green apples and potatoes and asks for news from family.
