Wyoming Livestock Ranges Struggle in July Heat
A J Kang of the Wyoming Crop and Livestock Reporting Service reports July conditions in Wyoming are unfavorable for ranges and livestock. Hot dry weather keeps ranges dry and below five year averages, hay crops are short, and first alfalfa cuttings are below average. Native hay is light due to reduced water for irrigation, with old hay cushions yet fall feeders. Ranges at 83 percent of normal, down from prior months. Sheep are adversely affected by the heat in July.
