Alorada mountain meadow soils vary from cobble to deep silty layers formed by stream activity. Proper irrigation builds a sod mat of 1/4 to 1/2 inch, while overwatering thickens it. High elevations under irrigation increase organic matter through crop residue and slowed decay due to cooler temps and water fogging.
