Oil work starts on Main Street today by Woolward Construction Company of Rock Springs under contract to surface and oil a five mile strip from Highway 189 through town westward. The improved road is expected to be well received by residents and motorists, reducing rough sections as grading and draining were completed last year.
During the July 6 and 17 Laramie meeting the State Board of Directors announced speakers for the annual Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation convention to be held November 12 to 16 in Thermopolis. Named were Senator Barrett and Senator Omshoney, Governor Simpson, Wynn Garnett, Mrs. Mercedes Hurst, Verna Hitchcock, Paul Rechard, and others. The board also reviewed the 1957 membership program and outlined topics for the national legislative program to present to House candidates. Glenn Hertzler was named to the Legislative Committee to succeed Andrew McMast. The directors listed include Reuben A. Andeon, president Rkitfs, Herbert Livingston, and others.
Cheyenne reports the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will open three additional fishing waters on August 1. In drainage area No. 1 Flat Creek within the Federal elk refuge and above Crawford Bridge will be open August through September 30. Surprise and Elbow Jakes in Bublette County also open August 1 and stay open through the season.
Sublette County Board of County Commissioners will meet on August 7 at 7 30 PM. Dr H H Scarborough Vision Specialist will be at Marbleton Hotel Friday August 3 to examine eyes and fit glasses. residents urged to take opportunity for service.
Members of the Sublette County Artist Guild attended a luncheon Thursday July 19 at the Chuck Room Cafe Pinedale and the Bayers home. The group held a 3 contest won by Mrs Norman Barlow and Mrs Eton Cooley. Readings included Jimericks and poems by Mrs Floyd Spencer Marz Meyer and others. The next meeting is August 2 at Mrs Floyd Spencer's Big Piney home.
Washington D C Congressman Keith Thomson voted against a bill to fund four atomic reactors for power production. He argued the measure would hinder private uranium development and threaten private power by expanding government control. He warned the bill could force private producers out and claimed it resembled large print contracts with small print effects.

Mrs. Patrick J. Quealy 94 longtime Kemmerer figure and Wyoming leader died after a lingering illness in Salt Lake City. Funeral at St Patrick’s Kemmerer followed by interment in the Quealy plot. Survived by son Patrick J. Quealy and many grandchildren great grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She served in state and national Democratic posts and was a presidential elector in 1932 1936 and 1940.
University of Wyoming research traces black wool fibers in white wool clothing to black sheep in flocks. White sheep rub against black sheep picking up fibers, mills reject black-fiber wool, and costly removal exists. Officials seek identifying white sheep to reduce need for counters and branding aids are tested.

Visiting German pastors Dr. Eichard Kamiah Helmut Gramm and Werner Schmitt will be guests of Community Congregational Church of Big Piney on Sunday evening.
