Wright Promises Tax Breaks If Wyoming Wins Governorship
Earl Wright state treasurer and Republican nominee for Wyoming governor says if elected in November he would urge the legislature to amend the sales tax law to exempt food and drugs. He argues rising prices hit fixed incomes and that food and drug purchases should not bear sales tax. Wright notes a large treasury surplus and claims current sales tax revenue exceeds the early 1940s general fund total, pledging tax relief to ease residents' burden and support possible federal tax reductions.
