Hillmont residents report haying activity with J G Hayden and Marshall Dunham returning from Bearlake with William Dunham and another hire to join the Hayden crew. Local meetings, exams, travel, and social events fill the week from Pinedale to Marbleton and Fremont Lake.
W. J. Shanley and Earl Belk nap visited the town this morning from Pinedale. Mr. and Mrs. Chas Martin and Nelson Elder were visitors from Daniel on Monday.
A community dance and supper at Buddhall, Big Piney, tomorrow night raises proceeds for the Green River Valley mess fund. Local women will serve ice cream cake and coffee while men pay for these luxuries and the dance. A large turnout is expected from nearby areas.
F. J. Alexander and R. A. Richardson visited Wednesday to treat various eye ailments for residents. The Big Piney garage receives a fresh white paint overhaul improving its look. The Green River Valley Red Cross chapter schedules a business meeting at Budd Hall on Sunday August 5 at 8 p.m. all members and friends urged to attend.
Notice announces that ginners must file applications to graze cattle horses and sheep in the Wyoming National Forest for 1918. Deadlines require filing by October 1 1917 at Ate ton Wyoming. Blank forms and full information available on request. Excludes current permittees. Charles A Beam Forest Supervisor.
The Good Roads Club schedules a Saturday evening meeting for August 11 to seek an appropriation for the Rock Springs route and to present a full report on work already done and planned on other routes. Deputy state surveyor S Cobham reports progress on lanes from Fontenelle to Marbleton as crews survey Opal to Daniel. Trucks now use the Rock Springs road for supplies. pioneers Jensen and Chapel, followed by Christensen and Haller, completed last week.
Mr and Mrs R E Clark hosted Flower Day at Rustic Lodge in Corn drawing over 100 attendees. Guests included Mr and Mrs John Budd and families, Mrs Josephine Budd, Mrs Lowe, Miss Jennie Boyer, Mrs Pearl Berger. Lunch featured home grown strawberries. proceeds went to the Red Cross fund.
The Green River Valley contingent of the machine gun corps left early Wednesday for Cheyenne to fill to full war strength and later head to Palo Alto California around August 15. Capt. Jack Majors now commands, aided by Sergeant Smith and H. H. Moyer who visited Piney friends before Paul Nott returned with the car. Second Lieutenant Jesse Miller is the lone Valley officer.
A fragment from The Examiner for the News lists Linotype Boosters and bank officers at State Banks in Big Piney and Marbleton. It asks readers to report anyone with horses branded Z on the left thigh to W. H. Booker in Halfway, Wyoming, offering payment for information.
