Biddeford Plans Panel Skeptical of Elderly Housing Project

Biddeford planning board members criticized the Prospect Street development and MSHA handling. They called the 40 unit elderly housing plan poor land use and undesirable wooden structures, urging closer city consultation and noting site and process are preliminary. A Sept. 23 meeting with MSHA is planned to discuss changes. The board also seeks alignment with the zoning appeals board on the aging ordinance.

Donahue Case Ground Rules Established

Arrests Made In Vandalism In Kennebunk

Police arrested Edward Paro Jr. and John L. Larrabee after a tip linked them to vandalism causing thousands of dollars in damage in Kennebunk. Both 21 and 22, they were charged with malicious damage to buildings and vehicles and released on bail. arraignment in Saco District Court not yet set.

Biddeford Eyes Federal Grants For Public Works Plan

Biddeford may seek 100 percent grants under the Local Public Works Capital Development and Investment Act of 1975 as unemployment tops 14 percent. Hannaford Plans Saco Shopping Center on Route 1

Hannaford Brothers of South Portland will start construction of a 40 000 to 45 000 square foot shopping center on Route 1 in Saco early next year with a 25 000 square foot Martin's market and a 6 000 square foot Wellby drug store. The project covers about 35 acres between Academy and Stockman avenues with possible opening as early as October 1976.
