Julia Is Carrying Heavy Burdens With The Humor
NBC's Julia stars Diahann Carroll and Marc Copage as a Black widow mother and son. The first episode includes color references and a nurse job denial due to race. Hal Kanter aims for a light, nonsearing portrayal of a Black family in contemporary society without an explicit message.
