Amelia Tibbetts 79 widow of Almon Tibbetts died after brief illness in Biddeford hospital. She lived in Old Orchard Beach 55 years and was active in church and American Legion auxiliary. Stunt Pilot Killed At Mass Air Show
Shannon Leithoff a 31 year old Huntsville Alabama woman died when her biplane crashed in a ball of flames at Weymouth Naval Air Station during an air show before about 100000 spectators. The Decathlon plane spun and slammed into a runway killing the pilot while spectators were unharmed though shocked and some treated. The air show resumed with a Blue Angels exhibition after the crash and the FAA opened an investigation.
