Fishermen Protest Tactics Of Foreign Vessels At hearing

In Biddeford a Fiat coupe crash on Old Pool Road by St. Francis College left Stephen Holt 17 of Warwick Rhode Island seriously injured and in Maine Medical Center Portland under careful observation. Phone Workers Ratify Contract With Bell System

Washington AP reports 750000 union members ratified a $3 billion three year nationwide contract with Bell Telephone. Communications Workers of America approved by better than 2-1 after mail ballot results showed 210000 in favor and 103000 against. Some Western Electric and New England Telephone unit employees were rejected. The deal includes wage increases up to 10.7 percent first year and up to 3.3 percent plus COLA in years two and three for salaries from 108 to 260 depending on skill and tenure.
