Saco Mayor Dr. J Edward Whelan accepted the endorsement of the Saco Republican City Committee as party nominee for a second term. He won last year over Democrat Frank Jones by 217 votes and carries four Republican aldermen into office. Also endorsed were Robert H Knox for Ward 2 alderman and Bryce Milne for Ward 7 alderman. The three Pavlov Romashin and Olenev booked passage home. the Soviet mission did not confirm compliance. The FBI linked them to two others arrested in Englewood New Jersey in a parking lot.
