Thornton Academy dedicates William Linnell Gymnasium
Thornton Academy dedicated its half million dollar W. S. Linnell Gymnasium before about 1,000 students and Saco residents. Named for William Linnell, the 1903 TA board president, the 181 by 181 foot structure seats 1,750 for basketball and 2,200 for assemblies. It replaces the 50-year-old Addison Emery Gymnasium and expands space for a growing student body, with plans for a new science building funded by donations.
