He attended local schools and earned a business administration degree from the University of Maine, where he joined the Maine Business club and the Newman club. Mobutu Tightens Ring Around Lumumba In Congo Crisis

In Leopoldville Col. Joseph Mobutu expanded a security cordon around former premier Patrice Lumumba after a late night appearance in the native quarter. Soldiers forced back pro Lumumba crowds, a shot was fired, and several detainees were taken. Mobutu later reduced the troop strength to 50 and insisted no one enter or exit Lumumba’s residence. Lumumba declared from a balcony he remained master and not a prisoner.

A five division parade to kick off the Biddeford Saco Community Chest drive starts Monday at 7 30 p m from Beach and Main in Saco. Parade routes run along Main Street to Biddeford then turn past the City Square monument toward the Universalist church reviewing stand.
